It’s noticeable how the village changes its face when the high season begins. Even the town and its businesses prepare to offer a better experience to visitors from all over, as we don’t only receive international tourism; the majority of tourists are local. This is because many families, couples, and groups of friends also visit during this time.
- Low Season (from May to November): Though there is more rainfall during these months, the waves remain quite good. The landscapes turn even greener and more lush. It’s the ideal season if you’re looking for a quieter experience without the crowds and don’t mind a little rain.
However, 2025 has been an especially rainy year, with heavy rainfall starting in the first week of February and continuing to the present day. These rains, more intense than usual, have affected several regions of the country, particularly the coastal and Andean areas. As a result, special conditions have developed in rivers and on beaches, so travelers should be prepared for this situation. What’s interesting about the rain is that, after the rivers and lakes in the towns are cleaned and the water is renewed, many locals take the opportunity to find rivers with spaces to wash clothes or simply enjoy a day by the river, such as in Dos Mangas, San Vicente de Olón, the Alex Waterfalls, Pedro Pablo Gómez Waterfall, among others.

Competitions continue with the San José XLPro, presented by Liga Pro Surf, taking place on Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, and the La Punta Classic from April 23 to 26 this year.
